Lost Pine Earth Builders and Educational Center
Albany, Ohio, OH,
United States
(United States)
 Vision
Lost Pine is dedicated to improving the relationship between humankind and Mother Earth. The vision behind Lost Pine is simple: provide residents and the greater population with beautiful and sustainable homes, and teach the valuable skills needed to live (and love) the sustainable lifestyle.
Lost Pine is a culturally, economically, and spiritually diverse living space and entry into the community will be carefully screened through an application process and trial living period. All members of this community will be treated equally and justly without regard to their skin color, citizenship status, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender expression, relationship status, age, language, physical ability, financial ability, education background, political practices or spiritual beliefs.
Life
Residents will live in off-grid homes built from recycled and green materials. Homes will be eco-friendly and we will carefully consider the impact of our footprint when planning and developing the land. Most dwellings will be resident-built, depending on the resident's desired length of stay in the community, and each person/family will choose among dorm-style apartments, single family cottages, and multi-family villas.
Children will attend the community school, which will focus on arts and sciences. Resident teachers will provide world-class education and enrichment activities will be encouraged. Lost Pine will also collaborate with Ohio University to provide guest lecturers, research and lab experience, and performing arts. Students will have the opportunity to go on field trips, and participate in research and creativity fairs.
Co-op gardens will support the Lost Pine community and general store. Residents will have the option to share buffet-style meals or to eat independently.
Livestock such as chickens and goats will provide additional sources of protein and revenue. Lost Pine will form mutually beneficial partnerships with local farmers and will barter with them for additional goods.
Income
Lost Pine will host workshops on self-sustainability and green-living practices. We will have a general store, and vacation homes and conference rooms to rent to the public.
Currently
The Lost Pine community is currently in the formation phase. We have two acres of rolling hills in southeastern Ohio and will welcome any help offered. Please visit our website for more information.
