Our intention is to live together in a manner that promotes and sustains
a unified and harmonious community. We accomplish this by:
• interacting with each other inclusively
• embracing and accepting differences
• holding ourselves accountable to collective agreements
• making decisions democratically
• sharing our lives freely with one another
• being open to compromise and cooperation
Located near in Beacon Hill near Sodo & Chinatown (a few blocks from Link Light Rail, 5 minute train ride from Safeco Field), we are a big house of twelve housemates who are looking for more folks to fill all our rooms. We come from a variety of backgrounds, occupations, social, religious and political views and orientations. We are accepting of many views and personalities and long as they don't involve creating mass destruction, degrading others or killing off people (at least, not outside of video games).
All of this is housed in a 12 room home with a detached room outside. Each of us has our own lease for the room we live in and all utilities are included in rent. We make a solid attempt to build community. We hold monthly house meetings to discuss house matters, strive to hang out with one another in and out of the house, watch movies in our communal TV room, sometimes we share some dinner and just talk about the day. We are a home of artists, authors, activists, vegans, carnivores, musicians, actors, cooks, gardeners, gamers, technicians, teachers, students, service reps, and other creative professionals, and we are a greater community due to our diversity of personalities and experience.
We have a communal garden, a house fund (currently costing $10/month per roommate) to buy household items that we all need and share (usually kitchen & bathroom supplies), two kitchens with cupboard, fridge and freezer space for all and three restrooms (don't worry there is never a problem with use for these), and a laundry room. We are not just a bunch of strangers passing past each other in a house but people who strive to build something more.
If you are someone who likes to chill out at home, who is not psychotic or a drama queen, and values being a part of a nice home environment, then we want to spend time building our household community here with you. If this sounds like a good fit for you then shoot us an email and let us know a little about yourself. Then we'll invite you over to our next potluck so you can come meet some housemates and check out our home.

Visitors Accepted
Visitor Process: Our intentional community maintains its population by inviting potential housemates over when vacancies are available, getting to know them as we enjoy a casual potluck dinner and give them a tour of the house. In the days following the potluck, our household democratically votes for who we would like to invite to move in, and then contact each potluck attendee privately to notify of the collective decision made. If you are interested in joining our community, please email us a description about yourself so we can schedule a time for you to visit!
Statement of Housing Non-discrimination:
Our community does not discriminate in regards to housing based on race/color, national origin, religion, sex/gender, family status (i.e. having children, not having children, or being pregnant), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, ancestry, source of income, age, creed, personal appearance, political affiliation, HIV infection, military/veteran status, unfavorable military discharge, gender identity or expression, receiving public assistance, or being the victim of domestic abuse.

Land and Buildings
Urban

Land Owned By:
An absentee landlord
Number of Residences:
2
(Our main house - three floors, totalling 11 single-occupancy rooms, with two kitchens, three full bathrooms, two communal rooms and a laundry room. We also have a detached bedroom in the backyard that may be used as either single or double occupancy (does not contain a bathroom or kitchenette, but these housemates have access to the main house's facilities, too).)
Food, etc.
Percentage of Food Grown:
none
(We have some room for growing herbs, kale, etc. and would like to grow more substantial veggies, too, but it's challenging with the space we have for that. If you're into urban agriculture, let us know!)
Share Community Meals:
1-3 times/month
Dietary Choice or Restrictions:
Diet is up to each individual
Dietary Practice:
Omnivorous
(Some of us are vegetarian, some are vegan, but most of us tend to be omnivores. This is a part of the spirit of inclusiveness.)
Alcohol Use:
Used occasionally
(No restrictions on drinking, but rowdiness and disrespect are not tolerated. Quiet hours are 10-8 Sunday through Thursday, 12-10 Friday & Saturday. Parties are permitted with some restrictions.)
Tobacco Use:
Used Occasionally
(Smoke outside, please. We have a front porch with a great view of the sunset (the Olympic Mountains, the Puget Sound, the downtown Seattle skyline). Not to mention a backyard rose garden that is pleasantly private. So put them to use!)
Social Factors
Common Spiritual Practices:
No
(Inclusiveness means diversity, and not just diversity of physical appearances. We welcome people of all religious and philosophical stripes (or lack thereof) as long as they are not evangelical in the home. Fire and brimstone aren't allowed in communal areas (non-believers don't want to spend the rest of their lease listening to a sales pitch in the comfort of their own home), but what you do in your room and off-site is your right, and respected as such. But there is no house-mandated religion here. There is no spoon.)
Which Spiritual Traditions(s):
(Individuality is encouraged in our house, and (as noted above) we do not have a house-mandated spiritualism. But we've had many housemates that are political activists and have active spiritual lives, and we do our best to draw upon the qualities of those beliefs most desirable to our collective majority. Selfless-ness, compassion, courtesy, creativity and harmony are only a few such qualities we often strive towards. Much like the Fellowship of the Ring, we are a diverse group that does not always agree on everything, but eventually draws upon the best qualities of everyone in our motley crew to achieve success and fellowship.)
Educational Style(s):
Public schooled
