Bringing life to the forgotten places...
We believe authentic community cannot be created, it is discovered when people experience real life together and grow to trust and value each other. We are committed to experience that community.
We are radical insurgents and rabble-rousers, seed throwers and fire starters, hope peddlers and grace-givers, risk takers and dreamers. We reject unfounded categories that divide the world into uniquely sacred or purely secular by uniting what man has divided, empowering the poor, strengthening the weak, embracing the outcast, seeking the lost...
We have become disillusioned by the institution some call the church. We are craving to be the ancient Church we read and learn about, that same Church that ended poverty by giving of themselves until all their needs were met. (Acts 4:34-35)
We believe at its core the church is not a particular building or any one set of traditions, but it is to be a gathering of people where we can stand up and say we are wretched, and everyone will nod and agree and then also remind us that we are also beautiful...
When we look through the eyes of Jesus, we begin to see new things in people. In the murderers, we see our own hatred. In the addicts, we see our own addictions. In the saints, we catch glimpses of our own holiness. We can see our own brokenness, our own violence, our own ability to destroy, and we can see our own sacredness, our own capacity to love and forgive. When we realize that we are both wretched and beautiful, we are freed up to see others the same way
We are not perfect, we have not arrived but we are moving toward God's dream for the world and we invite everyone, no matter where their starting point may be, to join us in this journey.
We strive to discover authentic community by serving together, playing together, worshiping together, and living life together. Our city is changing because God sent us.
We strongly encourage all members to live in geographic proximity to each other (most of us have chosen to "invade" a particular few blocks in our city). This is also the area where the bulk of our projects take place (community garden & feeding the homeless).
Join us and explore what a revolutionary community can be and do in this world...
