Twelve Tribes Community in Ithaca
Ithaca, New York,
United States
We are a community that is a member of an emerging brand new culture, sprouting out of an ancient root of the spiritual nation of Israel. We live like what is recorded of the first believers in the Book of Acts in the Scriptures. Acts 2:42-44 & Acts 4:32-35. Our greatest endeavor is to love one another as our Master Yahshua loved(Yahshua is the Hebrew name of Jesus of the Scriptures). We, as individuals, came from all walks of life with all sorts of hopes and dreams, along with all sorts of wounds and scars. Although we came from such different places, the longing of our hearts were all the same. We wanted hope and a purpose for our lives. We didn't want to be trapped by our personal failures. We didn't want to live empty and futile lives to build up a world that was obviously crumbling before our eyes. So our journey led each of us to meet this community. Here we found a hope and a purpose so deeply wonderful and so real that we decided to put all our eggs in this one basket as a response to love. We saw something here that had an integrity that many have only dreamed of. We met the community and came face to face with a real life, whose existence we can only attribute to being a movement from our very Creator.
Now we spend our lives together daily learning all the wonderful ways of this new culture, learning to love one another in a deep practical way as disciples. Our greatest hope is that we could find others who have the same hunger that we had and share with them the dream that has caught fire in our hearts. Our culture is a tribal culture where clans interact and serve each other. We are seeing a restoration of elders, marriages and families in contrast to this age of individualism and loneliness. Our children are our greatest hope. We want them to grow with compassion for the great plight of humanity and be equipped with the deep wisdom and selfless concern for others that can actually make a significant change in the dark and troubled times on this planet.
We work together all week. We run a little cafe in downtown Ithaca. We also have a small construction crew and the beginnings of a farming crew. We gather as a household twice a day to hear each others hearts as if from our Creators heart. Then we eat our meals all together as one big family.
We love having visitors. We only ask that while people are here with us they would respect our life and participate in what we do here. We extend the invitation..."Come for a day..or to stay!"
