Wyomanock
stephentown, New York,
United States
I have a vision to establish an IC on 95 acres of land that I own on the NY side of the Berkshire/Taconic range. I do not have a master plan or participants at this stage. I have embarked on the creation of Wyomanock Center, a non-profit, to promote sustainability and environmental education at this site. On 6/19/10, we had our inaugural solstice celebration, with many like minded souls attending and helping with the groundbreaking of our cobwood home for Wyomanock Center. We continue to oversee the activities of an established and growing community garden at a nearby urban landscape, Pittsfield MA. (www.WestSideFarmProject.org) At Wyomanock, I envision an ecovillage with 20 or more residents and a small scale farm and possibly a farm store. I already have 3 older houses on the land, which can currently be rented/shared by participants. Two of them (which can be viewed on website)have been completely rebuilt (and currently vacant), one, 85% complete, with photovoltaics and soon solar hot water heating. There are 10 bedrooms total. The land has a mix of fertile fields, ponds, streams, wetlands and woods. The location is not far from urban areas and cultural centers. I am looking for a collaboration of people with similar values and a desire to promote sustainability to the greater community.
