Local Foods Farm
SEEKING A COMMUNITY. We are a family of three; a stable married couple with a one-year-old son and plans for a second child. We are seeking an existing community that needs a farmer or a partner on an established farm. We are both organic farmers and wish to farm for our livelihood.
Our ideal community is one where:
there are 10 to 20 farmable acres with good soils.
animals are or can be raised for meat, dairy, eggs, etc.
there are other young children.
decisions are made by consensus.
we can buy-in to an equal ownership share and build our own home.
sustainable living practices are a priority.
there are several shared meals each week.
community members support one another in attaining their highest potentials.
the climate allows warm season vegetables to ripen (tomatoes, peppers) and a variety of fruit to be grown.
the location is rural but close to a fairly progressive town with a farmer's market and potential members for a Community Supported Agriculture farm.
Joe is currently employed on an educational farm where he manages 7 acres of mixed vegetables and fruit that are marketed via a CSA and local restaurants. Between us we have 10 years of organic farming experience. We spent one year living and working on a goat dairy. Betti is currently full-time mama.
