| Do something radical: demonstrate common sense. We are looking for participants in a sustainable lifestyle with the intention of dramatically lowering our carbon footprints and living slower, cleaner, simpler, and more aware lives.
We need students, educators, primitive technologists, writers, lawyers, lobbyists, gardeners, goatherds, artists, FAMILIES, meditators, knitters, elders, hunters, gatherers, children, shamans, storytellers, woodworkers, herbalists, healers, light hearted fools (no heavy hearted fools) who are ready to face their fears and walk away from life out of balance. We need people who are balanced, good communicators, and preferably those with a stabilizing personal practice (meditation, yoga, NVC, etc.)
The idea was (and may still be) to become a visible, nomadic, multigenerational, community of folks from all walks of life and demonstrate simple living (see listing for "North American Walkabout"). To educate people to the realities of our global, cultural path and offer alternatives. To show that anyone can make significant, sustainable changes while retaining or even increasing peace and joy in their lives.
This listing is the land-based alternative (or could happen concurrently). While the mission remains basically the same, the intention is less focused on outreach and more on personal change:
We will live in simple, structures: teepees, yurts, simple/small/handmade natural dwellings. We will attempt food self-sufficiency (yes, this does mean big changes... no take-out sushi!) hunted, foraged, gifted, grown or scrounged. We all have rationalizations that prevent us from leaving our comfort zones but we CAN do it! (we will have to eventually, anyway)
We will have rich, intriguing educational options for our homeschooled children, as well - teaching skills that allow all to live in sustainable harmony.
We will live simply with as little petroleum fuel, plastics, toxic chemicals, twisted rationalizations and poor communication habits as we can manage. We will rediscover joy in simplicity and inspire intentional culture.
This plan would look like a very remote cohousing on a large, fertile piece of NW U.S. land (Northern CA, OR or WA)with GOOD water. This model allows for individual exploration/expression on 2-4 acres while the vast majority of the land is under community care. | Contact: Dakota Potter Valley, California 95469 United States Phone: 707-743-1561 |
