Ninth Street Co-op
Berkeley, California,
United States
Ninth Street Co-op is a limited-equity housing cooperative owned by the residents. The co-op consists of two duplexes and one cottage with a common area, four garages, fruit trees, an organic garden, and chickens. We are in an urban, working-class neighborhood that is ethnically diverse. Members are low to moderate income. All members serve on the board of directors that meets monthly to discuss co-op business. Members share maintenance tasks. Ninth Street Co-op is self-managed. We have owned the property since 1986 and became a co-op in 1993.
