A Property in Beautiful BC
Terrace, British Columbia,
Canada
((Nass Valley))
We have purchased 23 acres in the Nass Valley, in NorthWestern British Columbia. The property boasts very rich, alluvial soil for growing food easily, stunning mountain views, a flowing mountain stream, electricity available for hook up upon request, lots of trees for firewood, and a small, well built log cabin. Zoning in the area allows for horses, chickens, lots of buildings, and just about anything you want. The Nass Valley is in the world's richest salmon-producing area, but there is lots of other fish and game there as well. The ocean is not far away either, where seafood can be very easily attained. This is prime survival land: excellent for self-sufficiency. There are lots of wild berries and other edible wild foods around. We would like to share this land with a few others. We do not presently live there (We still live and work in Vancouver). The Valley is incredibly beautiful, with staggering mountains all around. The valley is sparsely populated by humans, and most people in the region are from the Nisga'a Nation. In fact, this is the area of Canada's first modern day treaty - the Nisga'a Treaty. The local village is run by the Nisga'a government. Our property is outside of the village, and is one of few privately-owned properties. The non-Nisga'a people living in this area are very self-reliant and have much in the way of homesteading skills. This compliments the Nisga'a fishing and fish-smoking etc., skills. Local Nisga'a people like to trade the salmon that they have caught for vegetables and fruit grown by the local homesteaders. As such, this is likely one of the best places on Earth to break free from the industrial food system. After much consideration and a lot of research, this location was chosen for having all of the necessary attributes for doing so. For a few thousand dollars, you could possibly co-own this piece of land with us, and work towards building a self-sustaining community in an amazingly beautiful and interesting area. If you are a teacher, you could even get a job in the village school. Or, you could live elsewhere and work towards building the property up slowly over time, through visits, as we do. Property is North of Terrace, BC. Email gambierforest@gmail.com if interested.
