1st st
At 1st ST the focus is on living meaningfully, purposefully and abundantly in such a way that a new concept of family shared in a unique place beyond biological family can be experienced.
Why 1st ST? Center city Phoenix, Arizona has been a place for a long time. There is no need to dig or disturb a pristine ecosystem or join in suburban sprawl. There is no need to run away from the pulse and throb of human life, the only goal is to join in the experience, the dance of being human here in this place. There is no need to build a cultural milieu, it's here. At 1st ST I hope it will be possible to experience place, give and share love, nurture and aid each other in such a way as to have pleasure and fun. Not far away Hohokam canals were the foundation for the Salt River Project. SRP canals today bring the water to Phoenix. It's important to realize 'nothing new', nothing special. It's only natural to engage in the 'real work', as Gary Snyder put it of being in place.
To answer the earlier 'Why?', Peter Berg of Planet Drum in San Francisco has done a lot to educate people on what's going on and how to get on with it. The essential action is reinhabitation with authenticity. For the most part we are the city. If you go throughout Arizona and the south west you'll find the publo ruins in the hills. It's amazing how concentrated and close their dwellings were. Their homes were packed together closely. Just like our dwellings are today. It's natural and authentic to live close with the excitement and energy of a city. With the libraries, theaters, universities, factories, churches, restaurants close by, accessable and there to enrich and enliven experience.
Family has been for most of our history based on the biological relationship. Several generations together children, mothers, fathers, partners, lovers, grandmothers, grandfathers, nieces, aunts and nephews. People would relate only when an aknowledgement of close relatedness existed. For some this still holds. For others it is gone. They have no family and therefore limited intimacy. If your blood family is strong then please keep your energy there. However if for some reason the circle is broken you still can have a family, a conscious family based on intimacy and love without biology. This is the goal for 1st ST. To reconnect together irrespective of blood ties.
Are you willing to engage in this real work together? Here in Phoenix?
