Building our Garden
The Brisbane Annex has been many things over the decades. It was originally founded in the late 70s as a sensual community by Ray Vetterlein and consisted of two houses which were known as "the Villa" and "the Annex". The two houses were on different streets and about a quarter mile apart. However the residents came and went from either house at will. The community remained actively involved in sensuality research until 2006 when some residents founded the Onetaste community in nearby San Francisco and others stayed behind. At that time the Villa was sold to a former resident and the Annex continued on as a non-sensual intentional community. Today at any given time we have between 13 and 16 residents and a dog, who also happens to be the third most senior resident.
We often share meals, contribute to each other financially, and have a community garden. It is not uncommon to come home and find a former resident who has come to visit for a few days.
First and foremost this is a home for a disparate group. It's not a business. And it's not an indoctrination center. There is no one central philosophy to which we all adhere.
We occasionally take on new residents as space permits. That means "when someone moves out".
As of September 1, 2009 we have two rooms available on our third floor. One is very small, like it holds a bed and you can't stand up in it small. The other is about 12 by 9, and you can stand up in it. The tiny one is available now. The other will come available around October 1.

Visitor Process: Not generally. Though sometimes. It's a house. People live here. There really isn't much to see. We are not a wayhouse for weary travelers. So don't even ask.
