Wide Range - Cooperative Community Network
Colrain, Massachusetts,
United States
(Western Massachusetts)
We are a collective of 25 homes including several mixed commercial locations and a 156 acre farm with natural fields and woods located within both a village and a rural setting. We have a wide range of self-sustaining work characteristics ranging from aspects of farming, constructive services and retail of our goods. Our ideal membership is very diverse. We perceive no central leadership and practice democracy with decisions made based on consensus. There are no set work requirements, although members are expected to work or pay for their desired wants and needs from within the community. Our community goals are for a self-sustaining environment that is not completely in need or dependent of the outside world. Our multiple self-sustaining business ventures currently help to support our individual needs as well as our material holdings as a community.
