village common wealth
Portland, Oregon,
United States
(house in a wonderful north portland neibourhood close to down town)
we are a small band of people who have lived in various diversley diffrent communities all over the west coast but found ourselves each placed together in a house by nothing short of chance. Our vision is to live our lives together so that we might bring about social change and personal enlightenment through contemplation and ecological awarness. we have just started leasing land outside of portland oregon and have set up an acre farm. we also currently have a six bedroom house in the city with three children and six adults. many of us attend school focusing on the arts and humanities while exploring science and mathmatics. we have house shows every other month show casing local bands. we garden all around our house and ride bikes every where. we are egaliterian and are taking steps to hold more of our lives in common. we respect the need for personal solace and individuality since from that place comes the desire to share and be in community. we have a strong focus on all disciplines including economics, politics, art, music, and science. our goal in the coming years is to own property together. right now we are in the honey moon phase of community just trying to enjoy ourselves and build strong relationships. we hope to find others who would like to start small businesses such as a portland food cart, bicycle cab service, yurt building shop, ect. currently we have started a CSA farm and we have one opening for another to be involved financially and physically. we like to go out to the bar for drinks now and then and wiskey is a favorite flavor of everyone in the house. we play music together and sing hymns on saturday mornings with a brunch style potlock. we live on mississippi st. near down town portland and it is a happening place. we hope to find the right people to join us and or couples. please write us so we dont feel so alone. thanks for looking!

Statement of Housing Non-discrimination:
Our community fits the legal definition of "housing for older persons" * and thus we may restrict membership/residency to those of a certain age and may have limits on child membership/residency in accordance with the law. Our community does not discriminate based on race/color, national origin, religion, sex/gender, disability, marital status, sexual orientation, ancestry, source of income, creed, personal appearance, political affiliation, HIV infection, military/veteran status, unfavorable military discharge, gender identity or expression, receiving public assistance, or domestic abuse.

Our community does not discriminate in regards to housing based on race/color, national origin, religion, sex/gender, family status (i.e. having children, not having children, or being pregnant), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, ancestry, source of income, age, creed, personal appearance, political affiliation, HIV infection, military/veteran status, unfavorable military discharge, gender identity or expression, receiving public assistance, or being the victim of domestic abuse.

Because our housing is a single housing unit and requires the sharing of bathroom, kitchen and common space membership/residency may be restricted based on sex/gender in accordance with the law. Our community does not discriminate based on race/color, national origin, religion, family status (i.e. having children, not having children, or being pregnant), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, ancestry, source of income, age, creed, personal appearance, political affiliation, HIV infection, military/veteran status, unfavorable military discharge, gender identity or expression, receiving public assistance, or domestic abuse.

Our community is a legally sanctioned church or religious organization and living in our community is restricted to members of that religion as allowed by law. Our religion does not discriminate based on race, color, or national origin. Housing in our community is non-commercial (i.e. not intended to make a profit).

Our community does not provide land or housing and is therefore not subject to fair housing laws.

Housing in our community is incidental to employment and therefore fair housing laws do not apply (though employment discrimination laws may).
