The Goal is clear and simple: To live in harmony with nature, with those who surround us, and with ourselves.
The EcoVillage at La Guacima offers a new concept in Sustainable Urban Development in balance with the planet. Through the practice of diverse techniques for food production, the use of alternative energy, management of waste and recycled black and grey water systems, and cutting edge environmental architecture, The EcoVillage sets a new standard for natural living.
In Raices not only you can live; you can also learn. Courses and seminars will be offered on different techniques to achieve the most precious goal of all people: being in harmony with ourselves.
The name of the EcoVillage - “Raices” - means Roots in Spanish.
The EcoVillage is situated in La Guacima of Alajuela, in the western side of the city of San José, Costa Rica.
Only 0.6 miles from the entrance of "Ciudad Hacienda Los Reyes".
6 miles from the San Jose International Airport "Juan Santamaría".
1.3 miles from the entrance of the new highway that connects San José (10 miles) with the port of Caldera (35 miles), from where it is possible to connect to the beaches of the Pacific; this new highway will be finish by April 2010. This excellent location allows you to live in the middle of nature only a short distance of hospitals (CIMA), schools, malls (Multiplaza, Real Cariari), and business centers (Forum I and II). La Guacima is found at an altitude of 2600 feet, where one can enjoy living in "the best climate in the world", with an average temperature of 77 F, all year long.
Warm during the day and refreshing at night to be able to enjoy a good rest.
Another of the benefits of its strategic location is the short distance from all the attractions of Costa Rica, like beaches, volcanoes, forest and hot springs.
Guacima is the name of a Costa Rican tree.
