Christian Community at Hoover's Run
Smock, Pennsylvania,
United States
We are searching for a few like-minded families to homestead with us on 1500 acres near Waynesburg, PA. We are planning a plain community where folks will live a simple life (similar to the Amish lifestyle) and share the work and benefits of homesteading together. Each family will be expected to share in the workload and will in turn be allowed to share in the harvest of our labor. You may also own and operate your own home business if you choose.
Our homes will be devoid of the modern "conveniences" such as electricity (except for generator or solar power for limited use) and telephone as we believe in finding balance between what is truly helpful and what may be harmful to our families. We will have a community-shared office with electricity, telephone and internet access.
You are welcome to live with us with no charge for use of the property. We will all need to build our own homes. Should a family decide to leave us they can sell their home back to the community so that they will have lost nothing financially and hopefully gained something in fellowship from their time with us.
Information packets with a few books/booklets explaining some of our beliefs and theological stand are available by request.
