| We are looking for a group of people who are wanting to change their lives and live a less frenetic existence.
We are not extremists on any level. We don't believe there will be an overwhelming apocolypse, though we do see potential problems ahead if we, collectively as a society, don't start living differently.
We aren't religious nuts who are trying to escape from the decadent lifestyle of the masses. We are Unitarian Universalists, which means that we are open to people of many faiths, and our spiritual life is based on interactions with folks from many different faith traditions.
We aren't willing to give up all of our "luxuries"... Though we do expect to cut back on some of what we use. We plan to implement renewable energy systems to power the houses and machinery. We would like to be off-grid if possible, but are aware that there may be other circumstances that prohibit it.
We'll be connected to the outside world, by computer, phone and however else we need to be. There is a great wealth of technology available that has low power draws that will allow us to keep most of the things that we currently use, and still reduce our carbon footprint.
I guess you could say that we are simply some regular people who plan to purchase some land that we can improve in order to create a working farm that will provide the majority of our needs, and who would like to find some other, like minded people to join us in our journey.
We don't even expect that everyone who wants to join us will want to farm full time (though we will expect everyone to pitch in when it's necessary). We expect that some folks will want to do other things. Our feeling is that we can create the place that you would love to come home to, after all is said and done.
We do not yet have a place picked out, but are working with some Realtors in the Mid-Missouri/Southern Missouri area. Status: Now Forming |
