| An ecovillage for nature lovers
The “Eco village Piracanga” came forth from a dream. A dream of a group of people to create a place to live and work in harmony with nature and with the intention to use every opportunity to grow in consciousness and in deep respect for our self and every body and everything around us. The “Eco village Piracanga” functions in a strong relationship with the Center for Art and Human development “Piracanga”, a Center were people can learn and experience the miracle of life in an inspiring environment. People from over 20 different nationalities and a large brazilian majority make part of the Eco Village family. The majority of all the buildings are constructed with local materials like “piacava”, wood, adobe and other materials, which are found in the region.
We use solar for electricity and hot water supply and all septic tanks are ecological. We are creating a biological garden to produce our own vegetables and fruits following the permaculture system. We promise to protect the tropical virgin forest of 70 hectares with trees of more than 1000 years old which borders the back of the village and makes part of the Center. We have an holistic free school with students from the age of 3 till 18 years old.
Situation
The “Eco village Piracanga” is situated next to the Center Piracanga, 150 meters from a virgin beach and the river Piracanga.
Piracanga makes part of the protected nature resort “peninsula Marau” and is 6 km away from the lively town “Itacare” with its many delicious restaurants, capoeira, music and many surf beaches.

A school where children are given responsibility, to look after them self, choose how they want to learn. By being given these opportunities, they can be what they want. To provide choices and opportunities that allows children to develop at their own pace and to follow their own interests. Not with the aim to produce specific types of young people, with specific, assessed skills or knowledge, but aims to provide an environment in which children can define who they are and what they want to be.
A school where the children learn to find peace inside themselves, where they learn to create their own reality, know how to heal themselves, learn to cook, grow vegetables and make houses.
