'Now And Zen' Eco Village
Austin, Texas,
United States
(Looking for land East of Austin)
Our focus is mainly to provide a peaceful, spiritual, healthy, nonsmoking, drug-free, no-animal-kill environment, where we each agree to respect and have consideration for each other and the land that sustains us. We have vegetarian and mostly vegetarian members, and we respect the dietary choices and spiritual beliefs of others.
We are currently looking for unrestricted land in the surrounding Austin area with a well or mineral rights and decent soil for organic farming. We want to live below our means as much as possible, not incurring debt to an individual or bank who can then turn around and compromise the stability of the community. We envision an esthetically pleasing community, where trash and materials are generally kept out of eyesight. We envision a school/healing center/retreat where people can come to learn about sustainable living, natural health, and can participate in helping to build the community.
Our group name represents our intention to live in the present moment, be mindful of our focus, be at peace with ourselves, and have fun in the experience of living simply and sustainably. Current members include various walks of life, including a CPA, former real estate agent, naturopath in training, nutritionist, IT desktop support, among others.
Goals for this group:
- Organically grow fruits, herbs, and vegetables
- Use solar, wind and hydropower
- Reduce, reuse, repurpose, and recycle
- Leave a smaller carbon footprint
- Share resources and land to lower cost of living
- Build structures from natural healthy materials
- Create a low-stress environment and have fun in the process
