Sivananda Ashram Yoga Farm
Grass Valley, California,
United States
(1 1/2 hours NE of Sacramento)
Swami Vishnu-devananda founded the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Farm near Grass Valley, California, in 1971. The ashram provides a residential setting where spiritual practitioners of all levels can deepen their practice through the study of classical yoga, meditation and vedanta. It is part of the International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centres and is a non-profit organization. On 40 acres of rolling hills and meadows in the Sierra foothills, it offers a beautiful, secluded location, surrounded by nature. All of the staff and teachers are volunteers. The traditional principles underlying the life of the ashram are respect for religious differences, multi-culturalism, multi-ethnicity and multi-disciplinary study. The Sivananda Ashram Yoga Farm blends Eastern and Western lifestyles– it is open, tolerant and disciplined a the same time. The vision of the ashram is to help all realize their highest potential and find inner peace. Inner peace will bring outer peace.
