Mont Hope City
Statham, Georgia,
United States
(Currently building!!)
Currently in the formation stage, Mont Hope City is a place of immense sharing coupled with more than adequate privacy. Things such as a library, certain tools and equipment, out-buildings, and other things which better serve a community will be shared. Personal items remain, of course, the property of the individual who owns them. It's a farm, a community, a business, an outreach ministry, and a spiritual environment based on loving (not to be confused with having sex with) everyone unconditionally and infinitely. This is a Christian organization. We will practice a return to living with and for the preservation of nature including an emphasis on sustainable living, organic gardening, next-generation structures, dynamic community development and interaction, as well as teaching these lost practices to the surrounding, exterior community.
Industries, both cottage and universal to the community, will be created to maintain the needs of Mont Hope City.
Mont Hope will seek to serve the nearby communities in both times of joy and suffering. To the best of our abilities we will spread our ideas and successes in sustainable living with everyone, easing the burdens of the coming times of resource scarcity. Through our efforts we will show that earthly resource scarcity can be overcome by first addressing the scarcity of love in the hearts of everyone. This is not an escape from responsibility, a hippie-commune, or anything like that. We plan to work hard and continue hard work as we make living better through living more healthy lives physically and spiritually.
Although there are a number of needed specializations listed, everyone will also help with food production, construction, teaching, etc. Specializing only means you would be one of the “gurus” for your field. . . but not the only worker in it.
As far as structure of set-up, you must already be financially stable. We are outside of Athens, GA. There is land very near and surrounding the seed acres we already own (4.5 acres in two plots, two families). If you are interested in becoming part of this organization you can come and look at property near-by to purchase. As we are already familiar with the area we would be able to help. In the current economy it is likely you would be able to make an offer to adjacent property to ours and likely buy those out. As the “market” is in such a state of fluctuation, actual VALUE of the property depends on what you are looking for. As being “right next door” to others in the community would lend to better security and cooperation, that would put a premium on it for you, while not a premium for the non-participating seller.
