We are dedicated to becoming the change we want to see in the world by anchoring to and sharing the tools of a promising future: community thoughtfulness, environmental sustainability, self-sufficiency, economic independence, grounded spiritual intention, and holistic and healthful living practices. Take a good look at our website at http://maitreyamountainvillage.com/index.html to evaluate congruency and harmony.
Maitreya Mountain Village emphasizes permaculture design within the wilderness setting of the coastal Siskiyou Mountain Range, Six Rivers National Forest, Smith River Recreation Area, in Northwestern California. It's rugged, steep terrain which offers a unique perspective for natural, organic farming. It is pristine and wild 160 acre parcel, only a few miles from the mighty Smith River, redwood forests, and half an hour from the Pacific Ocean.
The land is off-grid, utilizing alternative energy and alternative building techniques. Learn cob, cordwood masonry, straw bale, and earth-sheltering as we design and construct them. We are currently engaged in development of infrastructure and community. Second stage involves the opening of our healing retreat center. Accommodations are rustic, with plenty of seven-person tents, (mattresses, bedding in all), two cabins and the community center will house up to ten (completed by July). Our earth-sheltered greenhouse and cultivating more garden space are also high on our priority this year.
The community is still forming and accepting congruent, potent, healthy individuals for internships, both for volunteer experiences and potential members. Living here is free; work exchange for room and board, individual agreements are made pertaining to volunteer work and other exchanges of energy. Please review our living at MMV agreements -- this is a drug-free, smoke-free environment focused on healthy, vibrant living.
Membership and internship applications are being accepted for the next intern period, March 15 - October 15, 2010. Contact Dan Schultz at the phone number or email address listed above. Complete intern/visitor applications at http://maitreyamountainvillage.com/application.htm
