Village in the jungle, Chiang Rai,
Thailand
Being an artist, there is one thing I have missed on my travels: an affordable place to stay and work on art—to be surrounded by and draw inspiration from the creativity and differences in art forms and expressions of fellow artists.
Searching for similar places, you come across artists-in-residence, which is a great way to support art and artists, but not always economically viable for the artist.
Thailand Art Community therefore fills the gap and provides artists with an inexpensive alternative.
Thailand Art Community will provide the place and the space to work with your art even while traveling, and is open for long- and short-term stays.
Artists from all nationalities are invited to come and work, live in the mud houses made by and with artists, and share a large, roofed, open-air studio.
The first building starts in January 2009, with natural green building materials found in the immediate environment, materials allowing for artistic expression and details in design and architecture.
We will be holding workshops for fellow artists and interested groups throughout the dry season of 2009 and will complete four mud houses during this period that will house four to six artists.
