The Solaris Valhalla Intentional Community—the sunny resting place of the Gods. We currently have five members (two families), including three adults and two children.
We are looking to expand by gaining approximately eight to ten more members, not counting children.
Our community operates on a very simple system, as follows:
1. Every member can build a private dwelling on any portion of this land as long as it does not exceed 1000 square feet and does not interfere with the business operations of the community.
2. We have a community kitchen in the main house. This is where all community meals are prepared and served.
3. All members work on the farm or outside of the farm to add to the financial security of the community. We do not have any set income-sharing guidelines. We do require all members to devote 25 to 35 hours per week of labor to the farm and/or community if they are not employed outside of the community.
4. Everyone who lives in our community upholds the farm's ideals of sustainability, green living, and community morals.
5. Solaris Valhalla does not discriminate and accepts all nationalities, races, and religions.
6. The entire community practices emergency preparedness, but is not a survivalist community.
7. As long as your actions hurt no one, or the community, you are free to do as you like with regard to your recreational activities.
Membership will be discussed only during or after a visit of at least two weeks.
Our entire farm is off-grid and working toward being sustainable.
Our community business currently is CSA shares, but we hope to expand into other businesses in the future.
Solaris Valhalla is also a WWOOF Host Farm and a HelpX Host Farm. We welcome WWOOFers and HelpXers from around the world to come and enjoy our farm while helping us out. We are always interested in hosting new applicants and have openings at all times of the year.
