Thailand Meditators Retirement Community
Soppong, Thailand,
Thailand
(Province: Maehongson)
The retirement community development is in its formative stage at present. I am the founder, a US citizen, and Zen monk ordained by the late Kobun Chino. I have been teaching Vipassana meditation for 15 years. I am a former three-year resident and "pioneer" of the Breightenbush community.
For the last six years, I have lived in North Thailand and have a homestay program with my Hill Tribe Thai wife in a little village tucked in the mountains. Among many things to learn at the homestay is meditation (see our webpage below).
The retirement community idea came to me as I was looking at a wonderful property that is for sale near our home. It has four brick, duplex bungalows on it plus a large home, four bamboo cottages, and a restaurant on about two acres of flat land, great for gardening and with room to build at least five more bungalows. A creek runs through it, and it has a good road, electricity, and internet access. It is in a picturesque valley surrounded by rice paddies and mountain views. It is near a town called Soppong, which has a good hospital; and it is about three hours from Chiang Mai, the third largest city in Thailand. There is a town called Pai, just an hour away, which is home to many foreigners, good restaurants, and entertainment. We have twenty persons interested at present. If you like being in nature and country living, this is a great place just to “be.”
Please have a look at our blog for pictures and details. Email us with your questions.
