We are forming a new community in Tennessee around Putnam or Jackson County. Starting in April of 2009 the community will be based and have property bought near middle Tennessee. We need members now to invest in a large tract of land that will then be split up into acres for ownership depending on how much each individual invests. This will be a fair and honest ownership. We will lead a homestead life, sharing work and freedoms and helping all as equal family members. All food will be grown and stored on our acreage; we will also have animals. A simple way of living is the only requirement: Live however you want to live, but enjoy it with others of like mind. Workshops, schools, and participating together will be our main focus. There will be elders to make most decisions, though some decisions will be made by all. Our goal is sharing, living, and loving as a family, achieving great things together. We will strive to make money at farm markets, on the internet, and the like, but anyone may work outside of the community. There is nothing more basic than food, love, and security. We all will work to support our fellow members to make this a reality. Please contact me by email to start the process of going together to pool resources to buy a farm. With the economy failing, we can easily buy a 100- to 300-acre farm, and maybe bigger. If you could buy 30 acres for $30,000 to $45,000, five to ten people could buy five to ten times that. All ideas will be welcome, too. Nothing will be in stone until the property is bought, in about the spring of 2009. Please join our family and we will all live in peace and harmony. So I urge our group to develop skills such as some form of conflict resolution—ideally learned with a trainer. And learn these skills early on, when there is little or no conflict, for the same reason schools practice fire drills when there is no fire. Learning such skills at the outset can help reduce the potential destructiveness of poorly handled interpersonal conflict later on. We will need members with all skills, including but not limited to doctors, educators, carpenters, accountants, musicians, network administrators, etc. We will make it work! We will also develop a mission statement, together! Email now, so we can get started!
