Sunflower River
We are a small, aspiring sustainable farm on 3.5 acres a few miles south of Albuquerque, New Mexico, at 4900' elevation. We are still in the getting-started stage. We have a large vegetable garden and a small greenhouse, and the garden will continue to expand. We’re improving the soil and getting infrastructure set up with plans to start selling at the growers’ market or as a CSA next year. We are working to get our well off-grid, and to start construction on a passive-solar strawbale community building. We currently raise chickens and meat rabbits. In addition, four humans, one livestock guardian dog (a Great Pyr), and two cats live on the property. We plan to get dairy goats in this spring.
Our land extends back from a semi-rural highway to a tree-lined field with open views of wide, green alfalfa fields and the mountains. We are a half-mile from the Rio Grande. We are a bi/poly/pagan community.
