We are a polyamorous husband/wife trucking team. We currently have no home whatsoever, other than the truck. Our choice is to find the people first, then some land we can all agree to, and create a home. We do not want to raise livestock nor have a farm, but we enjoy gardening, even on a large scale, and we are glad to have some small livestock around provided they are contained and cared for.
We will be looking at Arizona, northwest of Tucson, this January, but we also like the looks of Missouri, southeast Kansas, Iowa, and many other areas of the US. The availability of water is critical in selecting a location. We expect to continue trucking for another year and a half or more, so the selection of land is not immediate, but we'd like to find the people ASAP.
For the right people, we would also include our trucking business as a financial anchor, with everyone in the community contributing to the trucking business in one way or another.
One of us has, in the past, assisted in creating and sustaining a viable IC. The model used involved having everyone who slept in the IC paying something for the privilege, even those who passed through ($10 got a person a bed and meals for a day) and all money went into a central bank account, which was then split up among the core members when the IC disbanded. We think this model will work well in the future also, but we're open to brainstorming ways to make this work. We have NO intention of autocracy, nor irresponsibility.
