Anthem is a community inspired by the Hierarchy of Needs model developed by Dr. Abraham Maslow in the 1940s and ’50s. Each of us is motivated by needs. Abraham Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs helps to explain how these needs motivate us all. Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs states that we must satisfy each need in turn, starting with the first, which deals with the most obvious needs for survival itself. Only when the lower order needs of physical and emotional well-being are satisfied are we concerned with the higher-order needs of influence and personal development. The problem is that many of us struggle just to survive!
Planet Earth is diverse with life. This was true long before human beings existed, and continues in spite of us. So why are we the only species that needs to work 40 hours a week to not have enough, with people starving in the streets? Life does not need to be that way. We can grow our own food, hunt our own meat, build our own dwellings, pump our own water, and generate our own power. Hell, we can even make our own beer! We can live virtually free by working together as a community! And we can fulfill our most basic needs so as to enable personal growth, self-awareness, and overall well-being. We may even become more eco-friendly in the process.
