(Sacramento Mountains)
Small living community for young adults forming in mountain village of Ruidoso in SE New Mexico. Main house for 3-4 already acquired with extra ground to add cabins or modular add-ons. Organizing principle is to encourage economically, environmentally, and socially sustainable lifestyles for now and future based on living 15-36 months in a community. Semi-privacy to each member while also promoting family atmosphere with shared common rooms, some shared meals, and shared use of major items such as vehicle and electronics.
Interested in attracting only young adults(age 21-30)who seek a wabi-sabi, clean, drug-free, minimalist, and healthy living environment and who seek an experience in community-building. Requires initial commitment of 15 months residence preferably beginning June 2010, three months' living expenses deposited at move-in upon which to personally draw as necessary, and obtaining 30+ hours/wk of paid employment (or full-time college student status with at least 15 hrs/wk paid employment). Interested parties welcome to visit during summer 2009 or spring 2010 for $25/day to cover utilities and two daily meals ($20/day for additional visitor who accompanies). Reachable from anywhere by Greyhound. No vehicle needed while visiting but need to inquire at least one week in advance.
Community developer is college teacher/theatre artist who currently lives on property summers only. Her interest in creating community stems from (1)childhood experience on a semi-communal homestead in Wyoming;(2) 1970s experience living in a community for university students;(3)desire to create a meaningful memorial to a deceased young adult nephew.
