Silver City EcoCommunity
Silver City, New Mexico,
United States
(or near Silver City)
We are a planning group dedicated to creating an eco-cohousing community in or near Silver City, New Mexico. We are a small, dedicated group that has been meeting for 4 1/2 years. Our community will be intergenerational, but with some quiet areas.
In our community, we want to combine the community values of cohousing with ecological sustainability and affordability. Housing will be owner-built according to sustainable-building guidelines.
Silver City is an historic town of 10,000 friendly and diverse people in the southwest corner of New Mexico. We are located in high desert country (6000 ft) bordering the Gila National Forest, and have a dry climate with four mild seasons. We have a natural food co-op, a small university, a community-radio planning group, and 36 art galleries.
