 We are a planning group dedicated to creating an Eco-Cohousing community in Silver City, New Mexico. We are a small dedicated group that has been meeting for 2 1/2 years. We have a mission statement and 4+ acres of land within the city limits. Our community will be intergenerational, but with some quiet areas.
In our community, we want to combine the community values of cohousing with ecological sustainability and affordability. We hope to have 36 mixed size units within the next 2-3 years - some we build as a group and some owner built according to sustainable building guidelines.
Silver City is a historic town of 10,000 friendly and diverse people in the southwest corner of New Mexico. We are located in high desert country (6000 ft) bordering the Gila National Forest and have a dry climate with 4 mild seasons. We have a natural food coop, a small university, a community radio planning group, and 36 art galleries.
