| "Old School" is just that. We are trying to go back to a simpler way of living. Doesn't mean it will be easy, but definitely more fulfilling. Bringing back the values of a time long gone.
The property is 80 acres of bush and cleared land in North western Ontario, with beautiful building sites. There is 2 small rivers that run threw the land and join to make one. As well as two ponds. One of the ponds we are going to stock with trout. This is an original homestead, with the original farm house and out buildings. There is lots of potential for wind power, as there is a very large hill. In the future we would like to be able to have power only from natural sources, as of right now there is hydro on the property. The driveway is about ½ mile off the road which adds for lots of privacy.
We are looking for people that want a simpler life, with wishes of being as self sufficient as possible. With the ways things are going now a days with food and fuel shortages and global warming, it is about time we remember how to take care of ourselves. With a small group of like minded people working towards the same goals, we can do it. We will be growing our own vegetables and raising our own livestock. It would be nice to get people with different backgrounds and skills. Such as a mechanic, nurse, carpenter and farmers etc. With a wide range of skills we can accomplish anything. We breed large breed dogs (Mastiffs and Rottweilers) and to add other people with breeding interests would be a bonus. We are already raising chickens, turkeys and pigs. We also have a horse. All livestock is welcome.
We would be interested in adding 5 or 6 single or family homes to the property. We can offer temporary accommodations until homes can be built. All different types of sound structures can be used for living accommodations, as the farm is in unorganized township. Mobile homes, yurts, log cabins or pretty much anything else that is strong and sound. People moving to the farm will be responsible for building their own homes and paying the land tax increases that come with the extra home. Again though, if we all help each other the costs will be way less than doing it on our own. The land will belong to everyone that is here, to use as they need.
Our goal is to live in a small community of friends, helping each other. | |
