Regina, Saskatchewan, Saskatchewan,
Canada
This is a call for serious expressions of interest in helping to form a secular cooperative community in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada.
With multi-generation, like-minded people, my wife and I would like to explore the hope for and feasibility of creating a community here by formulating inclusive yet perhaps old-fashioned (in the best possible sense) bylaws, seeking sufficient financing/support to establish an environmentally-aware apartment-style or proximal housing complex with a mixed-use format (private/public spaces).
We would promote the venture as an investment in living better, even from within a consumer-oriented society. We need people and we we need bylaws and we need land and financial resources. We can do it on our own - and already are - but would love to find and meet and gather other people who want to formalize these notions, while preserving their individuality, to create something we can all join/enjoy.
Think Oneida or early Canadian settlers, such as those of Cannington Manor, with their desire for doing and sharing something simply better than what they saw happening around them... but with resources / trade relations established.
We don't advocate violent overthrow of anything. We are not rabid anti-capitalist. Nor are we paper socialists fond of making lists while we watch our mutual funds grow. We're not anarchists either, at least not in the sense that term has come to be used/abused of late. We know there is a balance to be sought in all things. Please feel free to join us in doing so: thoughtfully living our passionate lives in balance.
