Center for Community Alternatives
Hillsborough, North Carolina,
United States
(TBD - West of the Research Triangle Park)
We've yet to name our community. The Center for Community Alternatives is the non-profit organization that is assisting us in our formation.
We seek two dozen people with appropriate skill sets and resources to establish an agricultural-based ecovillage located somewhere west of the Research Triangle Park area.
We have almost completed our visioning process and will soon begin writing our vision, mission and other founding documents. We'll then start recruitment. We envision growing a community to somewhere between 50 and 100 people. The size of the community will depend upon the carrying capacity of the land but we believe it will be at least 50 acres. If our community eventually exceeds 100 people, we will look for additional land, either adjacent or nearby.
We take inspiration and guidance from Diana leaf Christian's books: 'Finding Community' & 'Creating a Life Together'.
Status: one agrarian community in visioning process; additional communities are being explored
