Kailash Ecovillage is a 32-unit apartment complex (using a rental model) in inner southeast Portland, Oregon, with a sustainable orientation. We are creating a community promoting sustainable practices such as extensive recycling, organic gardening and composting, permaculture, bicycle and public transportation use, vehicle sharing, and rainwater and solar harvesting.

Our community does not discriminate in regards to housing based on race/color, national origin, religion, sex/gender, family status (i.e. having children, not having children, or being pregnant), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, ancestry, source of income, age, creed, personal appearance, political affiliation, HIV infection, military/veteran status, unfavorable military discharge, gender identity or expression, receiving public assistance, or being the victim of domestic abuse.

Share Community Meals: 1-3 times/month (Endeavoring to have frequent shared meals.) Dietary Choice or Restrictions: Diet is up to each individual (Common meals are strictly vegan.) Dietary Practice: Vegan only (Omnivorous in individual private unit.) Alcohol Use: Seldom used Tobacco Use: Prohibited (Original tenants (few remaining) have grandfathered this in. By 2010, the whole premises will be smoke-free zone.)	Social Factors Common Spiritual Practices: No (We would like to create a space for meditation.)
