The Shire
Pahoa, Hawaii,
United States
(90 acre farm)
fiddle head
The Shire is located on 90 acres in Hawaii. The community infrastructure includes dry spaces, hot showers, and kitchen facilities.
15 hours a week of WWOOFing as well as support for propane and other costs is appreciated. The Shire is a bio-intensive farm with permaculture and agroforestry.
Honest communication is the foundation for our community life. We also explore construction of farm infrastructure using local and recycled materials.
We encourage craftspeople, artisans, and other cultural creatives to come and participate as artists in residence. We encourage ownership participation in our community to support infrastructure development. We are seeking grant funding for development of an agriculturally based Hawaiian Healing Retreat.
