New Natives
Skattungbyn, Orsa,
Sweden
We are a polyamorous family-tribe now consisting of two children and two adults in search for more love and life partners. We want to build a radically new culture, truly able to satisfy in a sustainable way the right of all human beings not just to cover their basic needs, but also to fulfill their healthy and legitimate wishes for love, sex, contact with Nature, knowledge, expression... But we also want to keep connected to our human environment and have a positive influence on the society at large.
We develop an environment of emotional and physical closeness, with warm and egalitarian relationships, empathetic communication, sincerity, tolerance and humbleness. We believe that in this way we foster our natural ability to cooperate and make ourselves able to solve conflicts in a fair and enriching way.
We seek a balance between useful traditional knowledge and experimentation, between intuition and reason, integrating "spiritual", "cultural" and "practical" aspects of a holistic life. We propose communal child care and an educational approach that respects their development process and their diversity, promoting their freedom and creativity.
For us, a holistic conception of health includes freedom from drugs (both illegal and legal), and caring for our physical and mental well-being by natural non-aggressive means, acknowledging disturbing symptoms as conveying a message rather than just trying to suppress them. We also avoid radiations such as those from microwave ovens and wireless devices.
We want to keep conscious about the effects of our diet choices on our health, the environment and animal welfare. One of us is vegan, the rest ovo-lacto-vegetarian. We try to eat a high proportion of raw food, and we aim towards a 100% organic diet.
We strive to reduce our ecological footprint by having a simple lifestyle. We cultivate land and we seek to be more self-sufficient, applying the permaculture paradigm and using clean, renewable energy sources.
We share our income and we think that we should be free of debt. We're trying to figure out a way of getting our income from ethical and meaningful activities, avoiding if possible to resort to external jobs.
We live together in Sweden since September 2011, but we can consider to move. We would as well like to be part of a larger intentional community which does not need to be specifically polyamorous but must respect this option. Our proposal for that is listed in this directory as Inspiring Solidarity.

I am very interested in living in a like minded community. I lived and taught at a liberal boarding school in California for over 35 years and loved living in an educational community. There is a lot that can be learned from each other in a mixed gender/mixed aged group environment of people who are willing to work and play together.

I am now living in the Czech Republic teaching English, but want to be part of a community again. I am 60 years old and have been a history teacher for all of my life and hope to keep teaching. I am also a yoga instructor. I love your idea community and calling yourselves "New Natives".
