(Working on finding green site for building)
We are an Elder Community of mini-mansions, site-built, with green features and low maintenance, in a North Carolina location with mild winters. These are affordable homes for the independent elderly who cannot or will not pay outrageous prices to live in the alternative high-end, all-amenities retirement subdivisions, and who approve of living in low-end housing with an institutional feel.
We are striving to build a cohousing community that is lovely and affordable for the generation of 55+, people who do not feel they need to pay for the amenities that high-end retirement communities offer and that they possibly would not use.
Our community is for people choosing not to live in public housing and who do not find a trailer park a secure or comfortable option for a place to live. Our homes are designed and planned well for cottage living. Our doorways will be wheelchair-accessible from the beginning to prevent the expense of having to remodel later. Our community will start small and grow as we become known. The houses will become an investment in the community and not a depreciable hardship.
We are looking for like-minded people to help us build by helping us plan, offering land or offering their expertise in life by helping us form a core group that will make the community its own. If you believe we have a common goal and want to help, please contact us. We are currently forming our core group of interested residents. This is the first of this type of community in our area. It is a wonderful opportunity to get in on the ground floor and plan with us!
Our community has a direct interest in working with an emphasis on wellness and spiritual health as a focus for the remaining years of our lives. We are interested in providing insight by offering classes, health resources, care-giving classes, and resources for a more natural and productive life.
Our community will set an example of the benefits of alternative energy and green, small-house living. We will welcome the surrounding community to come in to learn that these processes are not expensive and why they are important. We hope this example that our young seniors are setting will interest all future housing communities.
We are seeking people who meet our expectations that like-minded community members will determine by consensus how the community functions.
