| DISBANDED: We dropped our purchase Contract for the land after determining that the price is too high and therefor the project is infeasable. We may make major revisions to reduce cost and submit an offer at a reduced price, but this is still undecided.

We are pleased to announce that we have contracted for our site for a 36 unit senior cohousing community in Annapolis. We have developed a Timeline with occupancy planned for December 2012.
VISION: We plan a supportive community to bring fellowship and meaning to our senior years. Through closely knit community we hope to extend our years of independent living. We are committed to diversity, moderate cost and a sensitive response to the natural environment of our site.
SITE/LOCATION: Our site is located in the treasured Eastport district of the city,(Google 1101 Bay Ridge Avenue)which is an ideal location for senior housing. The Eastport Shopping Center is conveniently next door.
The property is heavily wooded, and a buffer from tidal water and steep slopes limit development area. We propose a building of three to five stories nestled among tall trees, many 60 feet and higher. Increased building heights result in a smaller footprint and reduced impact on the site. We have a truly smart growth location.
BUILDING CONCEPT: To demonstrate compliance with environmental standards some planning has occured. Sketches show intended site access, general building bulk and form, and exterior activity areas and parking, some beneath the building. Building form is simple for energy conservation, and roofs are gently sloped for plantng.
Common House: A multi-use central commons is it's focus. Support spaces line two sides while large glass areas to the south and east open to decks and woods. Circulation is planned to foster personal contact and provide inviting spaces in which to linger for conversation or chance meetings.
Units: A variety of unit types and sizes are projected. Although the building is multi-story, units are arranged in the typical cohousing format
of front oriented activity spaces with small porches, linked with connecting walkways. Bedrooms open to the rear, with smaller windows for privacy and energy conservation.
MEMBERSHIP: We currently have a core group of three households. However with closing on the property, we are now able to initiate outreach to expand our membership. If you or a member of your household are 62 or older and you are interested in living in a cooperative and creative community, please get in touch with Diana.
