(Cully Neighborhood)
Cherry Tree @ end of winter
We are an urban cohousing ecovillage cultivating supportive relationships with each other, the larger community, and the Earth.
We are a "green" 37-residence condominium development and cohousing community composed of private homes with full kitchens supplemented by extensive common facilities. The village is on 3.73 acres that include play areas, vineyards, extensive vegetable gardens, and mature fruit and nut trees. We are located on two frequent-service bus lines in inner northeast Portland.
Members of the community share a growing concern for the environment and a desire to live lightly upon the earth, while strengthening social ties that are lost in the rushed and hectic pace of life today.
We are all moved into our newly renovated condominiums. Our residents range in age from three months to 82 years old.
Many people contact us to inquire about internships, volunteer opportunities, or overnight stays. At this time, we do not have a volunteer program. We are only able to host personal guests of current residents, or people who are actively in the process of renting or buying an available unit. If you are interested in exploring Columbia Ecovillage as a potential new home, please join our email list, which alerts subscribers about available homes as they arise. We have scheduled tours on the first Saturday of the month. Please consult our website for the tour schedule and email list signup.
If you are a student or journalist wishing to conduct research about cohousing or ecovillages, please consult our website, which is chock full of interesting and helpful information about our community, and co-housing in general. If you have additional questions, please contact us by email with your questions, and someone from our Outreach Team may be able to accommodate with a brief interview.
Thanks for your interest!
