The Lightwork Ecovillage exists to create and maintain a safe and supportive environment that cultivates spiritual wholeness, a sustainable lifestyle and a rich, loving community.
Imagine… meditating in a beautiful sanctuary dedicated to Spirit. Dining with friends over fresh organic food from the abundant gardens. Soaking in a steaming hot tub under the stars. Watching your children grow up in a safe, supportive, loving community. Waking up in your own cozy home nestled in the woods, feeling good in the knowledge that your house has been built in an environmentally sensitive manner.
We know that together, with clear intent, we can create anything.
We are located on Hope Point, Gambier Island. The property is about a 20 minute water taxi ride from Horseshoe Bay which is 40 minutes north of Vancouver, BC. The property is 80 acres of varied terrain. The land was logged by a previous owner about 5 years ago and is recovering nicely with young fir and pine trees already 12' tall.
The land is south facing making it an excellent growing site. The ground is fertile and rich with clay. There is a 15 foot dug well supplying our water. There is currently a rustic cabin on the land, that serves as shelter on rainy days and is host to many yummy feasts. We like to eat well during work parties! The property is off the electrical grid. We have a solar panel installed to supply electricity to the cabin and a generator to run power tools for building. We have a great little truck called "Troopy" which carries our supplies up the hill to the property.
We are creating a community that honours Spirit. Where we nurture each other’s finest attributes and support wholeness. This village embraces the enthusiasm of the young, the drive of adults and the wisdom of elders.
We envision having Communal spaces such as a spiritual sanctuary, dining hall, and organic gardens which support daily interactions between members. Individual homes will allow for personal time.
