 Refugio Verde is a 1 hectare (2.5 acre) parcel in the outskirts of Oberį, Argentina, 1km. from the nearest supermarket. Despite the closeness to the town, the property feels distant and remote. An exhuberant piece of rainforst, replete with colorful birds and butterflies is adjacent to the living spaces.
The town of Oberį, about 60,000 people, is in the lovely province of Misiones, famous for its tea and yerba mate plantations, rainforests, and Iguazś Falls.
We have built cabins and rooms oriented towards a stream and water, all with lovely views. We have put in a swimming pool and community kitchen, with a nice deck overlooking the stream.
Our original idea was to build a small lodge for tourists, but we would like to encourage people who are searching for peace and tranquility - a place to write, paint, sculpt, etc., but don't want to far from a town - to stay here for longer periods.
We are hoping to have a diverse and harmonious group, but since we are a gay couple, middle-aged, we would like for anyone staying here to at least be gay-friendly.
Staying here will not be free, but it won't be costly either.
