Clavan
Scotland,
United Kingdom
(We are currently seeking property in Scotland)
ClanAlba is a housing co-op which is initially seeking members for communal living although it will be our long term goal to establish a settlement of individual low impact dwellings for all our members.
The co-op is in the middle of negotiating rural property as we speak and we hope to accommodate up to 9 members in the communal property.
Our focus is to create somewhere that our members can live much lighter on the planets resources, growing our own fruit and vegetables, tending arable land and rearing our own livestock for both food and farm work upon the land.
The housing co-operative has another dimension to it: Clavan – Earthskills which is a workers co-operative aiming to provide every member with meaningful and important paid employment. Clavan - EarthSkills, deliver a range of workshops and courses in sustainable skills, crafts and technologies to tourists visiting our community.
It will not be a compulsory requirement that housing co-op members take on employment with Clavan though it would be advantageous for members to get involved and develop workshops which can be taught on site. We believe that everyone has a skill which can be passed from generation to generation and any skill will be a welcomed contribution to the workshops that Clavan wish to run.
ClanAlba would also like to make clear that we are not an income sharing community and that your own income is your own. The workers co-op is merely a sustainable solution to employment and voluntary opportunities for those wishing to work in a more positive co-operative and environmentally refreshing way.
If you are interested in becoming a member of ClanAlba Housing co-op then please emails us. We welcome people from all backgrounds.
