Raw-Wisdom
Oneonta, New York,
United States
We are a raw-vegan community in formation and a branch of the Tree of Life Rejuvenation Center of Dr. Gabriel Cousens. The original founders are Nathan Batalion, a certified traditional naturopath, and Melinda Elliott, a colon and occupational therapist, each with five years of communal living experience. For more on their biographies, see www.raw-wisdom.com. We started out with pot lucks for local residences, and our emphasis is natural and environmentally sustainable lifestyles. Our mission includes the promoting the many healing properties of raw/living foods. We offer instructions on organic indoor and outdoor gardening, optimal nutrition, detoxification and mind/body work. We also manage the educational website listed above plus www.healingtalks.com.
Our physical assets include 15 properties but they are currently managed as rentals for college students though these could be converted to community use with enough members (see www.viewallrentals.com for details). We have great potential and Oneonta is a lovely rural town with two colleges - which offers the best kind of setting if one wants to live in the country and yet still have much intellectual, artistic, and other cultural stimulations. Two of the properties we manage have substantial acreage for potential farming. We also offer a community organic garden at one of the houses plus a large composted organic garden at the main house. We periodically meet with and explore working with other local communities and/or healing professionals to share resources and inspirations. One way of extending our network is through pot luck meetings and educational forums. We look forward to sharing both our inner and outer wealth with like-minded, industrious, turned-on spirits who are into transforming themselves and our culture, whether raw-vegan or transitioning into more healthy, spiritual, and intentional community lifestyles.
We are again located in scenic Oneonta, NY "city of the hills" —nestled within the Catskill Mountains region and along the Susquehanna River. We have plenty of fresh air, water and picturesque rural lands. It is only three hours from New York City, four from Philadelphia, and six each from Boston and Washington, DC. If you are planning to come to the Northeast, please don't miss visiting us.
