Antelopia
Twenty miles south of Moab, Utah,
United States
Beach front straw bale
 Hi...
Here's a rundown of what Antelopia is all about...
Sixty-two acres, elevation 6000 feet, at the base of the La Sal Mountains in southeast Utah, 20 miles south of Moab, in a little valley called Brown's Hole.
An amazing amount of water for a desert environment, from multiple springs and a creek. Excellent farmable bottom land, in which a couple small orchards are already planted, along with a new vineyard.
Pinyon pine /desert juniper-covered hillsides, and beautiful views of the 13,000-foot-high La Sal Mountains. A pair of golden eagles live on the cliffs to the south (this is really their valley), and all the critters of the wild are our neighbors...
There are a couple other folks living out here, but there's not much chance of this place getting very crowded. There is nothing but public lands and National Forest on all sides.
This is a homestead community with exciting potential. We want alternative-minded people who are interested in building raw-log, post-and-beam, straw-bale, cob, rock, passive-solar, super-insulated structures, using all natural and locally available materials; people who are interested in earth-friendly ideas of design, organic agriculture, and sustainable living, desiring to pursue their dreams of a self-sufficient lifestyle.
Homesteading is a lot of work, extremely challenging, and a wonderfully creative and rewarding lifestyle. If you're in love with beauty and the natural world, and want to be part of it instead of apart from it, this is the place... situated on the edge of the stunningly beautiful Red Rock Canyonlands and Painted Desert.
Home is where the heart is...

NEW IDEAS! I'm researching the idea of turning this property into a wildlife-rehab type of community, with a few select locations around the property where a building/structure/living quarters can be built to accommodate special individuals who will be part of the caretakership as well as members of the community. If this sounds interesting to you, and especially if you have any background that would be beneficial and enhancing, by all means write me!
Also, I have a 20-foot yurt available for visitors to stay in or rent if you would like to visit and see if Brown's Hole is for you.
