Occoneechee is a village of families working together to create a safe, warm, vibrant community. We are an old-fashioned neighborhood of the future where family values are our primary virtue. We are Occoneechee and Saponi indigenous people native to the Saponi River region (now called the Roanoke River), in what is now Mecklenburg County Virginia. We are re-establishing the traditional values and norms indigenous to this land of family, ecology, love, peace, liberty, democracy, infinite wealth, diversity, abundance, dialogue, synthesis and collaboration as described in the book Infinite Wealth.
We have members from and are open to people of all races but our core is indigenous people. We are a farm, children’s play grounds, learning laboratory and business incubator and generator with horses, dogs, cows, chickens, acres of organic gardens, ponds, streams, bikes, toys, tree houses, trampolines, hiking trails, exercise centers, businesses and learning centers. We are first and foremost a child-centered environment focused on tapping into each child’s unique genius via formal education, hands on learning, one-on-one teaching, experience based learning, and diversity. The children will become healers, engineers, inventors, writers, doctors, artists, singers, creators, orators helping to create, re-discover and communicate better ways to live. We use seven generations thinking in decision-making where we take into account the effects of our current decisions seven generations out.
We are a leading edge technology development center exploring and developing nano-technology, advanced internet technology, virtual reality, quantum physics, chaos theory, alternative energy, advanced medicine, healing and other advanced technologies helping to form the Information Age infrastructure as we all globally create a new civilization. The community is also a leading edge art center, re-discovering our ancient songs, ceremonies and art and merging it with contemporary art and music. We are a healing center combining analytical medicine with ancient holistic knowledge and wisdom.
Though there is shared ownership of some property, liberty is a primary virtue, with each person also being a one-person profit center as is traditional for our people. Each person is the first and last of his/her own nation subject only to the Great Spirit. The key to social order is free thinking people self-forming into teams for the purpose of creating wealth, meeting human needs, exchanging and gifting in harmony with nature.
The first primary objective of Occoneechee Village is providing safety, security and protection to our members, especially the children and elders, as our world becomes more and more turbulent in the transition from the Industrial Age to the Information Age. The second primary objective is providing liberty, freedom and space where people get to continually and for life grow, learn, heal, explore, create and express their own unique genius in creating wealth, peace and abundance for themselves, the community and world. The third primary objective is connecting with other intentional communities co-creating, networking, partnering, trading, bartering, gifting, and learning. A fourth primary objective is integrating into Mecklenburg County and Southside Virginia, as good productive neighbors, so that others get to see better ways to live, raise children, create wealth and live in harmony with Mother Earth. A fifth primary objective is to begin facilitating the interconnecting of communities economically, physically and virtually (via information technology) to begin forming the global infrastructure for the Information Age civilization. A sixth primary objective is mental, emotional, intellectual, physical and spiritual health in all of our actions. A seventh primary objective is helping to solve the current world’s problems of racism, oppression, corruption, pollution, violence, abuse, starvation and the false impression of human nature as selfish and fear based, by helping to create new ways of living based upon ancient wisdom, new technology and creativity.
