| Mission Statement: A primary purpose of "People's Research Center" at this time is to assist or facilitate various individual, community, and world betterment projects.
One means of doing this has been the development of an internet indexing system to help make information about projects, events, and other social betterment activities more readily accessible.
This seems like the best starting point at this time, in that the internet, remarkable as it may be as an organizing tool, potentially is:
1. glutted with information that is useless or irrelevant in terms of improving conditions locally or internationally, and
2. without ready means for easily locating projects, events, or other worthwhile activities by the key factors of location, time, and actual subject matter.
A prototype database and search engine intended to resolve these problems has been made available online at http://intelidex.cogia.net/intelidex.html. Add information to the database at http://intelidex.cogia.net/XPRC_Entryform.html.
As yet, the interface is experimental, rather cluttered and confusing, and not 100% functional as envisioned or intended. A newer version with an improved, more user-friendly interface is currently in the making, and any input, suggestions, or ideas for improvement are certainly most welcome.
In brief, we feel that the three main categories or "facets" for locating or organizing anything are TIME (when will it happen), LOCATION (where will it happen), and SUBJECT (what is it about).
The idea of this "indexing system" is to have the ability to search for AT LEAST these three elements IN COMBINATION so those who want to do something and have the time and ability to participate can easily locate projects or events in their area of interest or expertise within a reasonable traveling distance from wherever they may happen to be at any given time.
The measure of success will be: How many projects are actually organized, made known and implemented through utilization of the system, and how much this results in actual improvement over existing conditions.
Another goal of PRC has been to apply the lessons learned from successful alternative communities to society at large, by researching what works and what doesn't, by working to remove existing obstacles for applying what does work, and by helping to facilitate communication and cooperative projects between existing communities and society at large.
