| Starwalkers is an intentional learning community in Northfield, Minnesota. Members of this community are awakening to the energy flowing through the universe. We honor the inner wisdom and creativity of each individual. As each individual becomes more aware of and takes responsibility for his or her role in the evolutionary process, global transformation becomes possible.
Members of the community live in and around Northfield. There are two homes in which new people who join us can live—one in town and the other at a rural site. These houses are privately owned, and there is a negotiable fee expected for housing and food.
Our daily lives revolve around self-sufficiency and sharing. We operate a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) farm and produce and preserve much of our vegetables and fruit. We eat together in community at least weekly (more so in the two homes). We try to be conscious of each other's needs and offer to share our time and resources.
We practice respectful ways of being with one another by sharing in decision making and becoming more skilled in non-violent communication. We also use restorative justice methods.
We guide young people by drawing out their potential. We invite them to explore their dreams and realize their gifts.
We seek knowledge of and communion with the natural world and participate in experiences that deepen that relationship.
Art, dance, music, ceremony, and ritual help to provide vitality and meaning in a community, and we hope to infuse our community with more of these experiences.
We foster the awakening of spirit and soul through journal writing, dreamwork, nature activities, awakening quests, and living more intentionally.
Those who want to live an alternate lifestyle will be drawn to this community. The community and our goals are appropriate for anyone—young people, older adults, singles, families. Young adults may find it an alternative to college, or it may be a pre-college experience. It can help them find meaning in their lives and pursue a livelihood that is fulfilling and suited to them.
There are also opportunities for retreats at the rural site. Staying in the house and camping in the woods are available options. The site is ideal for spending quiet time in nature, replenishing and learning from the earth. The residents at that site can also provide nurturance and guidance on your journey. Individuals and groups are welcome. |
