Modern Change Experiment
New Mexico,
United States
The main purpose of this community is to coexist with one another in a unique way. The world we live in today is rushed and very competitive. Many people live but don’t enjoy life. Studies have shown how many people in our society will simply walk past others in need so as not to get involved. But what would happen if that changed, if everyone in a community worked together for the betterment of our society as a whole, instead of on an individual basis? I’m sure that sounds impossible to you, but just keep reading and see how I plan to accomplish this.
This community would not be the first of its kind; as a matter of fact, the people who founded this country did the very same thing. Since the beginning of history people have had to work together to survive, and that is how we all came to be. My idea is not to return to the past and forsake all technology, just to take a break from the rush of the modern world by simplifying our lives. What if money wasn’t the driving force in our lives? Well, that’s the key. You see, in the community all members would have different jobs; the skills they bring with them would most likely be the job they have, unless they are willing to learn a new trade. The point is that these people wouldn’t work for monetary gain; they would share the work of the community and help themselves by helping others. When new members are accepted to the community, they are built a home. Every home will be equipped with the basics: electricity, water, bathroom, living area, etc.
The community will also have the following:
• community hall
• metal workshop
• wood workshop
• livestock (cattle, sheep, goats, chickens, etc.)
• windmills/solar to generate electricity
• a community water well
• tailor/seamstress workshop
• community kitchen
• a community-supported home school
• fully stocked small clinic (once we have a nurse or doctor join us)
• furniture workshop
• artist workshop
We have located land in the State of Wyoming. We're excited that our project will soon be getting off the ground. Please check back with us soon, we'll have a website up and everyone can watch our progress.

Open to Members with Pre-existing Debt:
Yes
(In some cases the community may even pay off the existing debt of a new member if the member qualifies due to a special skill that is needed by the community. In such a case the member would be required to sign a 1-5 year commitment to remain in the community, based on the amount paid off.)
Labor Contribution:
Expected
(Because our community is based on working for our betterment as a whole, and not on monetary gain, we all have different jobs within the community that must be done to ensure our prosperity. However, we also want to enjoy life, therefore all work will for the most part be limited to approximately 5 hours per day M-F. Every member of the community based on his/her physical ability and skills will be required to follow a work schedule. This schedule is set two weeks in advance and is altered when necessary. It is imperative that each community member follow the schedule, if any one person falls behind it is left up to the others on that team to finish the work before the day is over. The schedule will consist of two shifts for most jobs, generally 8:00am-1:00pm and 1:00pm-6:00pm. This allows members of the community to have quite a bit of free time to work on personal projects, or even have the option to work in another department to learn a new job if they wish.)
Join Fee:
Yes
(To ensure that we have a firm commitment from each individual or family that comes here, we ask for a contribution which can be discussed by sending an email to the director. The amount will be determined by your current situation, and the size of your family.
