Network for a New Culture (NFNC) is an association of several hundred people throughout the US inspired in part by the ideals and goals of the ZEGG community in Germany. NFNC sees community as a means to social change, and one of our goals is to establish communities which serve as models of healthy ways of relating to the Earth and to each other. We see community as a means to produce a world without fear, violence, coercion, or sexual repression. We believe that there are several key components to realizing this vision: self-responsible individuals; mutual support; honesty and openness in interpersonal relationships; a realization that means determine ends; and a realization that the personal is political—that is, a commitment to personal growth and change.
At present there are NFNC “city groups” in Washington, Oregon, California, Arizona and Virginia; and there are intentional communities based on NFNC principles in Virginia, Hawaii, and Oregon, and plans for several other start-up communities. To facilitate the community-forming and personal growth process, NFNC holds conferences, workshops, and camps throughout the year.
