Majbacken
Göteborg,
Sweden
Four persons started our community in 2004. We rent compartments in a house with eight stories in central Gothenburg, Sweden. So far we have 30 out of 31 compartments. We are 35 persons ranging up to 90 years old. We share an active social life while growing old together. We have dinner two days a week. We do some work together in and around the house to keep the costs low. We have celebration parties whenever we come up with a good reason. Film, literature, cards, traveling, and such is on the agenda. Why this? Because we think that living together keeps us younger, healthier, with less dementia, and above all, there will not be enough people to take care of us when the day comes when we cannot care for ourselves. So we will have to do it ourselves. Website www.majbacken.org
